Bhavadhaarini Anantaraman is a disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt.D.K.Pattammal for more than 25 years from 1986. When Bhavadhaarini was only 5 years old, she happenned to visit the Music class with her mother Mrs. Nalini to meet Smt. D.K.Pattammal. Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt.D.K.Pattammal heard her sing and spotted the talent in Bhavadhaarini and immediately took her up in her musical tutelage saying "Indha kuzhandhaikku naan daan guru" and those words began Music for Bhavadhaarini's life.

Bhavadhaarini hails from the family of veteran composer Mayuram Vishwanatha Shastry in her father’s side and on the maternal side all were vainika’s. Born and brought up in a music environ there was a natural environment to learn carnatic music, but Bhavadhaarini was more self taught and her foundations were not structured by a formal music tution learning, Sarali Geetham or Varnam.

She has won numerous prizes and awards from several prestigious institutions from her school days. Her first concert was under the banner of ‘Mookambika Fine Arts’ at Chennai in 1987. Since then she has been performing at all important sabhas in Chennai during Music Season.

She has also toured all over India to give performances in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka etc. She became a graded artist of All India Radio’ Chennai in 2002 by winning their All India Competition. She is a recipient of the CCRT fellowship (Center for Cultural Resource and Talent) from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for a period of 9 years from 1990 and Sterling Holidays Scholarship for Vocal Music for a period of 3 years from 1997.

She was awarded the title ‘SAI BAJAN RATHNA’ by SAI SEVA CHAKRA, 2001. She conducts lecture Demonstrations and Workshops in Music, Musicology  and other subjects in schools and colleges.She has been given titles like ‘Gaana Vaanee’,‘Isai Selvi’ ‘KalaikkaLanjium’ and ‘Tamizh Isai Vaani’ at various regional Sabhas.

She began the recording career with  Solo albums for Kalavardhani cassettes in 1997, followed by albums for ECHO (Bharath Records) and now she is now ‘the most wanted voice’ and the choice of   many music directors and stalwarts like Guru Kaaraikkudi R Mani, B.V.BalaSai, B. Raghavendra Rao, Sivaramakrishna, RajkumarBharathy L.Krishnan, Umashankar, Selvaganesh, Rajhesh Vaidhya, Prapancham Ravindran, Lawrence, Shriram, Sharreth  among others for many Carnatic and Light Classical Bhajan Fusion and Devotional albums. Her long associations with many music directors and artists have brought out a sensitive musician in her and her compositions are much applauded by the musical fraternity.

 She has Directed music and sung many albums for fund raising for temples maintenance and consecration ceremonies. With her 30 Solo albums selling well, her recent albums were Pearls of Purandara dasa and Pearls of Mutthuswami Dikshithar for Samarpana Audio Company, Madhura geetham for Guruji Muralidhara Swamiji’s Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Nama Bhiksha Kendra Trust. Her sonorous voice and a style that does not assault tradition add glamour to the concert and have been applauded by all.

Bhavadhaarini has also lent her voice for more than 500 albums till date for various genres and is one of most sought after voice for recordings in Chennai. She has also been singing regularly for Dance production Recordings for many dancers as well.
She broadcasts regularly over the All India Radio Chennai for Devotional, Carnatic and Light Categories. Also she has been lending her voice and plays Keyboard and Veena for many Tele-serial backgrounds, jingles and voice-overs for Major Television Channels like Sun. Jaya and Vijay.

She combines in herself the rare talent and training of rendering classical music maintaining the traditional authenticity and conducts her Music school branch at Anna Nagar called Karpagam sangeetha Vidyalayam. She also heads Karpagam Bhajana Mandali and conducts Thiruppugazh, Pambhan Swamihal, Thiruarutpa, Thevaram and Namasankeerthanam and Abhangs Concerts with her team of such trained students.

THE LEGACY CONTINUES...

Bhavadhaarini is the proud GURU of a large number of students spread all over the world. She devotes lots of time in developing new ideas and imparting them to her disciples.She now heads her School Karpagam Sangeetha Vidyalaya where students from 5 years to 40 years of age come to Vocal, Veena and Keyboard.

Residential training is given to students from other parts of India and abroad for short duration. Online classes are offered regularly through internet (vi-op, phone & Skype classes) to gain fundamental, advanced knowledge and professionalism in Vocal for a reasonable fee.
